Polycarboxylate Ether

PCE Superplasticiser · Powder & Liquid — Bulk supply across India & International Markets

What is Polycarboxylate Ether?

Polycarboxylate Ether (PCE) is a third-generation, high-performance concrete superplasticiser — the most advanced water-reducing admixture available in the construction chemical market. It belongs to the polycarboxylate family of polymers and works through a combination of electrostatic repulsion and steric hindrance to disperse cement particles far more effectively than conventional plasticisers.

Polychem Industries supplies PCE in both powder and liquid form to construction chemical manufacturers, ready-mix concrete producers, and dry mix mortar companies across India and internationally. It is the preferred superplasticiser for high-strength concrete, self-compacting concrete (SCC), and precast concrete applications due to its exceptional water-reducing capability and low dosage requirement.

Applications & Uses

🏗️

High-Strength Concrete

Enables production of high-strength (M40–M80+) concrete by dramatically reducing the water-cement ratio without losing workability. Essential for high-rise buildings, bridges, and infrastructure projects.

🔄

Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC)

A key admixture in SCC formulations that allows concrete to flow and consolidate under its own weight without mechanical vibration, ideal for congested reinforcement and complex formwork.

🧱

Dry Mix Mortars

PCE Powder is widely used in dry mix tile adhesives, grouts, floor screeds, and repair mortars to improve workability, water retention, and open time while reducing water demand.

🏭

Precast Concrete

Used in precast concrete production to enable faster demoulding through lower water-cement ratios and higher early strength, improving production efficiency and element quality.

🚛

Ready-Mix Concrete

Added at the batching plant or on-site to improve slump retention, workability, and pumpability of ready-mix concrete, especially in hot weather or long-distance transport.

🛣️

Infrastructure & Roads

Used in concrete for roads, flyovers, tunnels, dams, and marine structures where high durability, low permeability, and long-term performance are critical requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between PCE and conventional plasticisers like Ligno Sulphonate?
Conventional plasticisers like Sodium Ligno Sulphonate achieve 10–15% water reduction through electrostatic repulsion. PCE superplasticisers achieve 20–40% water reduction through a combination of electrostatic repulsion and steric hindrance — the long polyethylene oxide side chains physically prevent cement particles from clumping. PCE also offers better slump retention, lower dosage, and no significant retardation.
Which form of PCE — powder or liquid — should I use?
PCE Powder is preferred for dry mix applications — tile adhesives, grouts, bagged mortars, and premix concrete — where a dry, free-flowing product is needed. PCE Liquid is preferred for ready-mix concrete, precast, and site-batched concrete where it can be directly dosed into the mix water. Both forms provide equivalent performance at their respective dosage levels.
Is PCE compatible with other concrete admixtures?
PCE is generally compatible with most concrete admixtures including accelerators, retarders, air-entraining agents, and fibres. However, compatibility should always be tested for specific combinations before large-scale use. PCE should not be mixed directly with naphthalene-based superplasticisers as this can reduce performance.
Do you export PCE outside India?
Yes. We export to Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, and South Africa with full export documentation. Contact us for export pricing and lead times.
